Seen at Girrakool NSW. I can't for the life of me remeber what this is called.

It's still that most common appellation, Dan. And they are very black on the trunk, so I suspect the black bit by itself could be worked back into the name with no problem.
Oops, my bad! That does sound like a better name. It has been a long time since I was in Australia and that's just what I remember them being called.
The other, and more politically correct, name is Grass Tree. They take forever to get to any size. Those are lovely old specimens.
