Banana inflorescence, Zanzibar

Habitat:

Tropical plantations

Notes:

Spotted in a spice plantation in Zanzibar. Bananas have been present on the island for more than 500 years. The inflorescence contains several bracts (which are not petals) between rows of flowers.
