Field Notes

Description:

Mostly green and black with a touch of white. Lots of spots on a black background actually. One wing is damaged...may be a lucky escape from a predator. This is a female...the elongated bit on the tail is an indicator; males just have stumps.

Habitat:

Resting on a Bakul or Mimusops elengi tree...which, to the best of my experience, is not a host plant (Polyalthia longifolia is). This butterfly is extremely restless so staying still for long minutes was unusual...but good for me.

Your welcome :) It sure is! I've been trying to capture it for a long time but, as you've seen before, only managed to get a shot from far away.
Thank you, Rithmini Dinhara. It is a truly restless beauty!
