Field Notes

Description:

This is the coloration for the Andapa area. White ring around the eye. It looks like a walking rainbow.

Habitat:

The vanilla growing area in the North East southwest of Sambava. It's wetter, more undergrowth there. The chameleon has a propensity to walk across roads at bad times. Good, if you're a photographer.

Notes:

I learned that the locals are afraid of the Chamelons, unless they are in a vehicle. A taxi driver we rode with did straddle a chameleon just like this while driving one of the Quatrelle taxi's we were riding in through one of the Preserves near Andapa.
This photo is a drive by photo-op.
