Eutropis carinata is poisonous if tail is red in colour as alarming for its predators. Also its has numerous hunters .
Another little different specie from India. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eutropis_multifasciata
We also called it Brahminy Skink (Mabuya carinata)
Thanks for sharing this Karthik!!!
Trivia: reptile's called 'paamburaani' in Tamil. The other well known part about the creature's nature is it is notoriously forgetful: it approaches a person with the intention of biting(or stinging or licking?) and just as it is about to do the act it forgets its intention and returns! A blessing for human beings as this trait saves them from death by poison. http://www.mayyam.com/talk/archive/index.php/t-5748-p-2.html?s=0cea7af2445fb337317f7632968ca481
