Field Notes

Description:

Perennial, herbaceous plant.
Flowers between June and August.
Leaves have a lanceolate shape, about 15 cm long and 5 cm wide.

Habitat:

Can be found in deciduous an coniferous forests, often on rich loamy soils originating from limestone. Prefers halfshade.

Notes:

Exudes a sweet odour (especially in the evening), attracting certain nocturnal butterflies.
Deer likes to feed on the flowers.
