Field Notes

Description:

Bloom in waiting. The following week the whole flower bloomed. White, red with yellow tints.

Habitat:

Wetter areas of the high plateau and probably wild in the wetter areas of Madagascar.

Notes:

The area we live has flowers almost all year around. The cool season has a low of 48 degrees Fahrenheit. The origins of the Gladiolus species were found in South Africa and Madagascar. Wild gladiolas do grow here still.
This picture is of a cultivated species.
