Field Notes

Description:

Beautiful fresh butterfly with the silver/white edges of the wings still intact. Some of the individuals I saw at this meadow had worn edges! Very difficult to get a good underwing photo but #2 does show enough so that I can tell it is not a Silver-bordered Fritillary. Medium sized butterfly with fuzzy body.

Habitat:

Wildflower meadow at Strawberry Flats in Manning Park, BC. The temperature was going up from the mid-day sun and this species of butterfly was starting to flit around the meadow flowers.

Notes:

Here is a link to one IDed last year for me by bayucca. If this is not the same, then I do not know what it is! Maybe Pacific Fritillary?!
