Description:
The wings of the male butterflies are black and each forewing has seven teeth-shaped electric-green markings.The head is bright red and the body is black with red markings. It has a wingspan of 6" (15cm).
Papua New Guinea is home to the Queen Alexandra's Birdwing, the largest birdwing with an 11" (28cm) wingspan
Habitat:
rainforest, near sulphur hot springs that meets a cold freshwater river with a forest of tree ferns along its edge
