Checked the link Tim. The closest one I've found is the Trametes versicolor. Looks incredibly similar to my picture. Thanks :)
I'm loving project Noah too Sarah. Thanks for your comment Tim. I'll definitely check out the link. :)
You are welcome, Eve....I actually had a pic of this, that I posted as "fungi" and "galewhale" from Noah directed me to the "turkey tail" information - which I could pass on to you! I love how this works!!! :)
The link I posted in my suggested ID also has a great test to see whether you have a true Turkey Tail, or one of its lookalikes like Stereum sp. The easiest way to tell is to look for pores on the under surface.
Hi Sarah... Thanks so much for that. I really had no idea. Just thought it was really cool. :)
Hi Eve... Turkey Tail/Coriolus A common tree fungus, turkey tail looks--not surprisingly--like a turkey's tail, with a stiff, rounded shape and bands of varying colors. In traditional Chinese medicine, turkey tail is used to strengthen vitality and improve liver function. Scientists have identified polysaccharides in turkey tail that enhance immunity and stimulate the body's natural cancer-fighting ability. :)
