Field Notes

Description:

This flower has eight petals. It's height was about 18 inches or 1/2 meter.

Habitat:

Alternately dry and wet open flowering field on the plateau. This may have been spread by a bird dropping as it is the first time I have seen it on the compound.

Notes:

Last seen on a VW bus in the 1960's this "extinct " flower has surfaced again in Madagascar.

for me it seems to be a zinnia, maybe an original species. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinnia
