Field Notes

Description:

Connected bugs floating around and attracted to shiny surfaces like cars that become a nusiance in Florida twice a year. If you are crossing FL at this time you may have to stop and clear the windows so you can see.

Habitat:

Car radiators and surfaces can be damaged because of the insects acidity and cars need to be cleaned within two hours of colliding with the insects

Notes:

I found these on the leaves of my Vitex tree. Females only live 3 or 4 days and males just a little longer.

These are the true Love Bugs in FLorida. They floated around my garden for 10 days before disappearing.
Nice pics...I've been seeing a lot of them. There were 1000's washed up on the beach 2 days ago.
