Between her feet are the remains of a rabbit kill. This medium-large raptor in the family Accipitridae is widely distributed in temperate parts of the Northern Hemisphere. A powerful and fast hunter of birds and mammals in a variety of woodland habitats, its prey spectrum is broad and varies considerably depending on location. In the Iberian peninsula, where this spotting was made, the native European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is often the goshawk's most numerous prey".
