Description:

a carnivorous plant. There are many species of pitcher plants, but this particular one is endemic to the Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills of northeast India, in the state of Meghalaya.

Notes:

rather rare, and the only pitcher plant native to India.

I have to admit, I was shown this plant by an amateur naturalist from the area - he knew where to find this plant, but it was not far from the main road between Nongtalong and Jowai in Meghalaya.
They are dependent on insects...
I was just reading about this in a book the other day. Very cool sighting indeed!
