Description:

Large purple flowering bush. Flowers felt like velvet. This stood about 5 feet tall.

I added a close up pic now. The flowers were fuzzy if that helps. :)
Looks like Mexican Sage to me. Salvia leucantha
Take a look at Purple Loosestrife and see if that fits the bill
Unable to Identify. Flowers are seen here so small. Needed one close picture..
