Field Notes

Description:

This is an averaged sized heron that is widely spread throughout the world. Both sexes are similar looking. They have a dark head, nape and back; lighter underneath. Red eyes and black bill. Yellow legs.

Habitat:

Typically found near water, where they hunt food. Nests in trees or on the ground in protected locations, such as islands and wetlands.

Notes:

The lighting on this bird was terrible, so had to play a lot with the in-camera exposure and in the in-computer processing. Fortunately, it turned out for this application.
