Field Notes

Description:

I mistook this for a lily because the petals were so open. Of course, it's actually a tulip! The weather has been very dry so most of the flowers are opening and dying.

Habitat:

Park garden flowerbed

Completely right. I missed it because the petals were so open they looked like lilies.
I wouldn't say they are lilies at all. They look like tulips. Not sure of the exact variety though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip
