Wildlife Spotting

This is "Wormy" my children tried to hide him in their room to keep as a pet! :o needless to say he is back outside where he belongs but being unsure of where in the yard they found him I'm not sure what he is. He looks like he could be a grub in inchworm or caterpillar. Grub seems more likely for this time of year and area but I admit I know very little of the mini critters common to Texas. He is a fat little guy about an inch long with a darker brown face and what could be little leg stubs all down his tummy which is greener than his back
