Field Notes

Description:

The plant is usually grown as an annual. It has a woody stem near the base and can get 2-3 ft tall and spread out just as wide. It has long life span-20 yrs relative to most other plant species and a moderate growth rate. Periwinkle has dark green foliage and conspicuous blue flowers. Leaves are retained year to year. The five petal flowers are typically rose pink, but among the many cultivars are those with pink, red, purple and white flowers. The plant is easy to grow, and requires little or no attention. It does best in poor, well-drained soils.

Habitat:

Park

Notes:

These are growing wild.

Isn't science fun? Multiple names for the same thing!! Thats why it is so important to include the genus species name- it is the only thing that remains the same no matter what language you speak or where you live. :>)
Thanks everyone didnt know those were alter names lol.
check out the link I included. Both suggestions are correct I believe. It is a fairly common ground cover. Nice suggestions folks and great photo!!
Meant mine doesn't have a star shape in the middle.
All the flowers you both mentioned have a star shape in the middle of the flower, but mine done. Yet the flower shape and leaves are similar to what you both mentioned. Any other ideas?
