Field Notes

Description:

Up to five feet tall, this plant has bright yellow flowers with drooping petals, and a dark brown center. Leaves are deeply lobed with toothed edges.

Habitat:

Tallgrass prairie.

Notes:

This is one of my favorite prairie plants. It is a perennial but favors disturbed areas and tends to decline as succession proceeds.
