Yellow Coneflower
Rudbeckia pinnata
45.5264, -93.712
Field Notes
Description:
Up to five feet tall, this plant has bright yellow flowers with drooping petals, and a dark brown center. Leaves are deeply lobed with toothed edges.
Habitat:
Tallgrass prairie.
Notes:
This is one of my favorite prairie plants. It is a perennial but favors disturbed areas and tends to decline as succession proceeds.
