Field Notes

Description:

Approximately 15mm in length. Main color of yellow, but more pale that other species. Named for the plant genus Impatiens, which it is often found on.

Habitat:

Prairie restoration area at Sunderbruch park.

Notes:

It was rather cold in the morning, so the bumble bees were not moving about too quickly. Perfect timing for easy photos:)

Just went back and checked the other photos. The white markings on the mandibles are hair. I should probably mark this as unidentified. Thanks for your input.
ok, so the first problem I see on this bee, it doesn't have corbicles, so it won't be a female bumblebee. Then, it seems to have some white markings on the mandibles, this is very unusual in Bumblebees. Its a shame you didn't get more angles of the bee, is very had to have a conclussive ID
The only photos I have are the same pose. It flew off before I could get top-view photos. Any insight is great appreciated Juan. Thanks.
There's something weird with this bumblebe. Is either, a male bumblebee or not at bumblebee at all. Do yo have more pictures of the insect?
Yeah it does! Maybe I'll try and pet one next time:)
