Description:

It weighs 6–13 kg (13–29 lb), stands 38–48 cm (15–19 in) at the shoulder, and measures 67.3–81.2 cm (26.5–32.0 in) in body length.

Habitat:

savanna

Spotted this small family of Black-backed Jackals on a safari drive in Ngorongoro Crater.

Hmmm, I just tried to update this spotting with the correct ID but when I'm editing it, it won't let me check the 'ownership' box. So I'm not sure what to do. It was all ready and changed and then wouldn't let me save without checking the box but I can't for some reason.

I hate to counter your id, Dan, but your spotting is one of the jackels - juveniles from the look of them. Bat Eared fox looks like this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat-eared_fox
