Description:

The black-headed gulls now have their summer plumage (though their heads are more chocolate brown than black). They are very noisy, and I often see them chasing the smaller waders around the mudflats.

Habitat:

Coastal areas; estuaries, marshland, reed beds, lakes

Haha, I know the feeling, I've taken to double-checking what I think I know on the RSPB's online database!
Yeah, seems the gull group is more polyphyletic than first thought! Though a lot are still under Larus genus
