Field Notes

Description:

Sinuate Cadarena is the large moth with clear wings and pink edges bottom left.

Habitat:

rainforest

Notes:

I spotted these on the road that runs through Kibale National Park. They seem to be feeding on animal dung. The road was often covered in butterflies until a car would come by and smush half of them. It was sad to see so many dead butterflies on the road.

Thanks Jake for the ID. Nice to put a name to that beauty. I didn't even notice those faint black markings before, thanks for the details. I appreciate you going through some of my older moth spots.
I think the sinuata refers to the subtle black waves on the middle of the hindwing.
Gorgeous! These are all moths. The Cadarena sinuata is your favorite of the bunch... ;-)
very interesting...never knew they were attracted to dung
