Field Notes

Description:

30 to 36 inches, very slender

Habitat:

woods, fields, gardens...anywhere there's potential food

Notes:

discovered this poor little fellow trying to escape the aviary. Unfortunately, he's eaten ,it appears, a couple of half-grown canary chicks and can not make it back through the 1/2 inch wire.
This happens at least once every year. I'll release him in a day or so; wouldn't want him to "lose his lunch" from too much handling now.

I love how you can see the chicks in its stomach!
I've added a photo of the snake's release in a protected area.
