Field Notes

Description:

The snook is a large, predacious saltwater fish that often enters fresh water in search of food. Coloration is fairly even with a dark lateral line , sometimes with yellowish fins. They may grow up to 4.5 feet in length.

Habitat:

Shallow saltwater flats, brackish coastal waters, sometimes in freshwater streams near the ocean.

Notes:

This photo was taken from the underwater viewing area at Homosassa Springs. Great place to visit. Lots of captive animals, but many native birds and fishes can fly or swim into the park and it is sometimes difficult to tell when something is captive or not.
