Male & Female. Female in foreground.

Habitat:

Photographed on fresh water lake.

Notes:

This small duck is characterized by the large blue patches on the front of the wing and by the white crescent on the face of males. They feed by dabbling in shallow water eating aquatic plants and seeds as well as molluscs and aquatic invertebrates.
