I'll do my best - trying to get a feel for the conventions used on this website as quickly as I can.
I would call them wild. I've heard about this place. Next time it would be cool if could you please include where you saw them when you are creating the spotting, just to avoid any confusion. Thanks.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jigokudani_Monkey_Park They aren't caged, but they do get fed at the hot spring, particularly in winter when food becomes scarce. They return to the mountains at night, so I guess it depends on how you define wild.
