Moorhen

Not really Ashish. We get lots of them round here. They do like the cover of bushes but they don't like it too boggy. They need dry areas to nest. Their lifestyle is similar to mallards, swans etc. They are water birds. Lapwings don't swim like moorhens. They just forage at the waters edge usually. And lapwings nest in fields with plant cover usually away from the water. Lapwings are also frequent visitors to farmland and ploughed fields. They can be found away from water but moorhens are always near to water.

Yeah Emma we see them a lot over here. The name is misleading slightly as they are water birds. They are found in and around wetlands such as large ponds or lakes. Moors are nice but pretty empty to be honest. Although the heather moors are full of cool birds and bugs at this time of year.
