Field Notes

Description:

Within the deeply creviced bark of a native allocasuarina was a small patch of yellow/ochre fungus with each cap less than half a millimeter. <br> There were about maybe 200 caps and each seemed to have a dent offset or a 'hole' in the top. The rounded shape was also very puckered seemingly with a fibrous texture.

Habitat:

In a local national park next to a small lake. <br> The patch was about 60mm long and almost 2 metres above the ground. <br> Tree Allocasuarina torulosa

Notes:

All suggestions welcome! <br> At less than half a millimeter this looked like specks of gold dust to the naked eye. I only noticed the form and textures while reviewing the pics at home. <br> Olympus TG6 full microscope mode no flash held fixed against the tree bark. <br> I think the form, textures, lack of stipe preclude slime molds but...
