Description:

The fly agaric is an incredibly attractive toadstool and is easily recognizable. Its bright red cap fades to an orange or orange-yellowish color as it ages. The cap is topped with fluffy white spots which may occasionally be absent. The stem is usually quite bulbous and tends to taper towards the cap. This fungus species is dangerously poisonous.

Habitat:

San Pedro Wilderness in the southern most part of Rocky Mountains in New Mexico. Vegetation consists of grassy meadows, forests of Englemann Spruce, other conifers, and Quaking Aspen. The area is also laced with several small streams.
