Gordon, i wasnt sure about hooded merganser but i lightened out the picture and now it is cofirmed - male))) and yes definitely a wood duck male as well. thanks
Two cavity nesting waterfowl in one shot. Gotta love it.
Doesn't look like a mallard at all. :-)
The bird on the left is a wood duck (Aix sponsa). The duck on the right is probably a hooded merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus).
