Field Notes

Description:

Think of a swan in a pond, chances are these are mute swans. Tall white birds with a black notch above their orange bills.

Habitat:

Man-made ponds, usually a domestic species

Notes:

Campbell Macpherson, a former regent and lieutenant governor of Newfoundland, presented the pair of swans to Mount Allison University. The swans are now mascots to the school and there is a hefty 20,000$ fine for hurting them.
