Description:

The Widow skimmer is in a group of dragonflies known as King Skimmers. Can be found commonly across the United States (except high Rocky mountain areas). Adults have a steely blue body. Wings of both sexes are marked with black bands. Adult males develop broad white spots at midwing.

Habitat:

This male widow skimmer (along with several others) was spotted at a lake in Staunton, Virginia.
