Wow...its a true underwing...!! http://www.boldsystems.org/views/taxbrowser.php?taxid=4189
I've found many ID's of mine and other's spottings the same way you found mine. I'm glad you had my moths the back of your mind while you searched for your own unknown spottings. I also ID' a similar moth with the direction of Ashish. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6671081
Great you could ID it in the end! :-) My interest in moths (and taking photos) only started 4 months ago, hence my hesitation to say more than "Anything like this one?..." I had been scanning a great website - http://flickrhivemind.net/Tags/indianmoths - trying to ID 'my own' moths, and came across one that reminded me of your spotting. (1st page, 4th row down on far left.) That's how my suggestion came about.
I believe I've found the correct ID, it's very similar to Annvan's suggestion.
Ann..when you understand mistake..your knowledge expands....try to find Genus to Order system with body structure...!!
I'm interested in your ideas Annvan. You've come so close to identifying this.
This one must be underwing Noctuidae type moth.
It's very much like your suggestion Annvan. It's only missing the thick brown band on the edge of the wings. Do you think it could just be a variation on this species or a closely related species?
Anything like this one? - http://www.flickr.com/photos/10367747@N07/5871437199
Yes its a Moth only. Second picture shows clear its body structure..!!
I think it's too big to be a leafhopper. I think some type of moth.
