Spotted in the very early morning before the sun was really strong and burning hot.

Desert Spiny - look at the black line on the neck. Nice shot!
Just looked at the field guide, and I'm pretty sure Desert Spiny Lizard is your only option in that region. color can vary some, but the patterning fits
@MitchRay I would say the Desert Spiny Lizard is more gray where this fellow was rather brown. On the other hand, size, pattern and habitat seem correct. I do so more research. Thanks!
Looks like one of the large spiny lizards. Maybe the Desert Spiny Lizard, Scleroporus magister.
