Description:
Las hembras ponen de 30 a 60 huevos, anidan durante la estación seca, cuida de sus nidos y al eclosionar, a principios de la estación lluviosa, desentierran a sus crías y las conducen al agua. Se le encuentra desde Florida, México y Las Antillas hasta el norte de Venezuela y Perú. Incluyendo Panamá. Su dieta incluye todo tipo de vertebrados. No incluye seres humanos en su alimentación pero se han registrado ataques.-- The females lay 30 to 60 eggs, nest during the dry season, take care of their nests and, at the beginning of the rainy season, hatch their young and lead them to the water. It is found from Florida, Mexico and the Antilles to northern Venezuela and Peru. Including Panama. Its diet includes all types of vertebrates. It does not include humans in its diet but there have been attacks.
Habitat:
Puede cambiar de hábitats dulces a salobres e incluso adentrarse en el mar gracias a que sus glándulas secretoras de sal (“lagrimas de cocodrilo”). Puede pasar largos periodos sin comer y hasta dos horas conteniendo la respiración. Capaz de cazar fuera del agua en distancias
cortas. -- It can change from sweet to brackish habitats and even enter the sea thanks to its salt-secreting glands ("crocodile tears"). You can spend long periods without eating and up to two hours holding your breath. Able to hunt out of water at short distances.
