Description:

Gray cutworm with a dark longitudinal stripe. About 1 inch in length.

Habitat:

Spotted in a grassy ditch next to a farm road.

Thank you so much, Kalen, for noticing. I believe your right with it being a cutworm but I will leave it as Noctuidae for now until I'm positive of a species.
Great photo, but i think it's a cutworm, the larvae of a moth (spodoptera furgiperda), not a leatherjacket.
