Field Notes

Description:

A large, robust katydid, approximately 2 inches long. Various shades of green with a lighter green pattern across it body. Highly camouflaged, it definitely resembles a leaf.

Habitat:

Prairie restoration of Johnson Sauk Trail nature area.

Notes:

I accidentally stumbled on this one while photographing a hopper. I looked up and just happened to look straight at it. Otherwise, I don't think I would have seen this one.
