Thanks Tweact & Nicholas Lot's of people can't get past the slimy texture. It's a key ingredient in Gumbo, a famous New Orleans stew-like dish. I find my students really like pickled okra...that truly surprised me.
I vove ocra as in beef ocra soup.. the vegetable is slimy and in our tratitional Greek cooking, its made as a vegetable stew with onions and potatoes in a tomato sauce. Do not like that.. it stays slimy.. In the soup though, it make it creamy and quite appetizing!!! The flower is very pretty!! Nick
