Field Notes

Description:

Dark feathers, shorter neck than an anahinga. Orange bill. Fishes underwater and then spreads its wings to dry in the sun

Habitat:

Found on inland lakes and streams.

Notes:

I hope I have the right one.

the bodies of these birds are not waterproof so after a dive these birds are generally seen spreading out their wings to dry them up
it is a cormorant for sure but cant say if its a double crested variety, the crests are seen only in breeding adults
