Description:

This spring ephemeral grows about 3-6 inches tall. The lavender flowers are about 1/2 inch across at the end of a reddish flowering stem. Leaves are grass-like with a central midrib about 3-6 inches long.

Habitat:

This spring ephemeral grows in eastern deciduous forests, blooming before the overhead tree leaves emerge to take advantage of the sunlight.
