Field Notes

Description:

This plant has purple petals. One is fuzzy. The center area with the pollen is shiny gold color. The insects love these plants and they have a nice scent. The large bees like these plants. The plant itself grows about 7-8 feet tall. It is just starting to bloom now and continues for quite awhile.

Habitat:

Open areas. Soil drains well. Central Plateau in Madagascar.

Notes:

When the big bees come to get the pollen the petal sags, but holds them.
