It looks a whole lot like Amanita phalloides. The death cap. I would not eat this and neither should anyone else. It is better to be safe than sorry.

It could be a deadly Amanita phalloides, the Death Cap.

Not much. Just saw it sticking out like a soar thumb during a hike (San Diego) and thought it was pretty neat. :)
