Field Notes

Description:

A medium sized crab spider, mostly bright yellow. Has green stripes on the thorax. A row of four eyes can be seen from the front, with the other 4 eyes above the "brow" facing upward. They are named "white banded" due to the white band that runs beneath their eyes. The band can be white or yellow.

Habitat:

Prairie restoration area at Blackhawk State Park.

Notes:

This pose just cracks me up! It's like its flexing its muscles in a warning..."Back off!"

Apparently the are called this due to the white band that runs beneath their eyes. The band can be white or yellow. Thanks for asking Maria. I'll put that info in the description!
Cool spotting; why does it have "white-banded" in the common name if it has green stripes?
