Field Notes

Description:

A large cicada, about an inch and 1/2 in length. Hardened larval shell ready for emerging. The shell is transparent in a couple of area revealing the cicada inside.

Habitat:

Woodland habitat at Blackhawk State Park

Notes:

I found this one hanging on a tree in the morning, but was bummed that I wouldn't be able to photograph it emerging, as I was not going to be there.
