Field Notes

Description:

This spider is heart shaped. Brownish in color. Spins terrific webs out in space. Notice the white cross on the back?

Habitat:

This one spins its webs from limbs over head and at a height just out of hands reach, that is if one would want to touch the spider.

Notes:

I've seen them several times on forays on the compound. This web had a slight breeze, so the spider was a challenge to remain in focus.

I'll look that up as a beginning search. Thank You!
This looks very liken to the White Cross Spider that is a common garden spider in UK for example, the are usually this dark brown & some golden in colour & in good summers with plenty of food around they have been known to grow so large that Police in London a few years ago had to call out the RSPCA to one on a wall which was taken to a vet for confirmation... like this spider not all have such clear white spots dotted vertically & horizontally in the shape of a cross on its back hence the formal name white cross spider.
