Field Notes

Description:

I took this picture at Dusk and hence the colors. The bird was totally one with the surroundings and sat on that branch for a long time.
It is a cormorant and that explains to me why it was perched on the tree for such a long period of time.
It's wings are not waterproof .They have to spread them out in order to dry them.
The neck differentiates it from an Anhinga. Unlike the Anhinga, the Cormorant does not have a long snake like neck.

Habitat:

Ranthambore National Park and Bird Sanctuary.

@Ceherzog and @Laura Maria , I am very impressed with your feedback. i could have never guessed what it was. Yes the neck differentiates it from an Anhinga or Commorrant. Anhinga's usually have a long snake like neck.
It looks like a cormorant, I don't know that the neck is long enough to be an anhinga... but then that could be the angle of the picture! Either way, what a beautiful bird :)
Could be an Ahinga! that's equally mysterious!
It looks kinda like an anhinga to me.
