Field Notes

Description:

According to a Nestwatch Project assistant- "The bird you have is indeed a House Finch. They aren’t usually particular about their nesting location. As long as the base is solid and there is a little overhang above, they seem to be happy to nest there. Thus, old nests of other bird species are utilized quite often. In particular, researchers in California have found that old oriole nests are actually a bit of a favorite with nesting House Finches. "
A huge thanks you to Kenyon Widger for this info!
