Description:
An all-black African corvid with brown tail edges and ruby-coloured eyes when adult (pics 3 to 5); with massive black bill. Juvenile birds (1 & 2) sport pink-red bills with black tips; and black eyes. They reach the size of feral pigeon, and are a bit smaller or a stockier than Eurasian pie. Here, observed in a large group of over 30 birds, both juveniles and adults.
Habitat:
A totally African member of Corvidae family, found in tropical equatorial and sub-Saharan region, from western coast to Sudan and southern Ethiopia. This corvid favours open country and cultivated land and green pastures, and is often found in associated towns and villages. Here, in urban gardens of Minna, capital of Niger State of Nigeria.
